General English

Reach your full potential in the English Language by studying General English which provides development in the skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing and the different language areas of grammar, vocabulary and functional English.

EAP (IELTS Preparation)

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program prepares international students for vocational or university study in Australia and other contexts where English is the language of instruction. The course aims to develop student awareness, knowledge and skills in the use of English as the language of teaching and learning in a vocational and/or university environment. Learning activities will focus on writing, reading and listening, grammar and vocabulary development, oral presentation skills, research skills and web literacy. There will be an emphasis on the development of critical literacy and critical thinking throughout the course. By engaging in such activities, students will gain increased understanding in using English to communicate in academic contexts at Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

GeSS Education is a partner of Browns English Language School and Griffith English Language Institute who will deliver these English programs to international students prior to their commencement of any Certificate, Diploma and Graduate Diploma programs undertaken at GeSS Education campus.

Browns English Language School

Since 2003, more than 10,000 students from over 50 different countries have completed a BROWNS English Language program which is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in education: “Study Travel Magazine (STM) Star Awards”, “The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards” and “The Australian Export Awards”. BROWNS' Gold Coast campus is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from GeSS Education and offers modern classrooms with large windows, providing sunlight and views. Students have access to high-speed internet, the latest ESL learning software and headsets. Every classroom has a large LCD smart TV's connected to the internet, while common area large screen TV's carry live broadcasts from the English speaking world. Students have well-appointed common areas for social activities and there's a dedicated Primary School Preparation Break Zone - a place for students to play games or relax between classes under direct supervision of the Student Services team.

Griffith English Language Institute (GELI)

For more than 30 years, Griffith English Language Institute, Griffith University’s official English language provider, has been delivering English language programs to international students. They provide English language courses to over 1000 students a year, from more than 40 different countries. Students residing at the Gold Coast join face-to-face classes whilst students located internationally attend classes virtually. You can start at Griffith English Language Institute with any English proficiency level and study for the period suited to your own purposes. You will be placed in a class between Level 1 and Level 6 based on our placement test taken before you commence your course, or your proficiency test result if you have one.If you are placed in Level 1, 2, 3 or 4, you will develop language skills for everyday communication: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, and pronunciation. At Levels 5 and 6, you will further improve your communication skills and also practise skills that will be useful for work or further study.
