ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
• Beginner to Advanced (6 Levels)
• 20 hours of face-to-face learning in class plus an additional five hours of independent learning specially designed to add to the week’s classroom lessons.
• 10 weeks per level
EAP (IELTS Preparation)
The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program prepares international students for vocational or university study in Australia and other contexts where English is the language of instruction. The course aims to develop student awareness, knowledge and skills in the use of English as the language of teaching and learning in a vocational and/or university environment. Learning activities will focus on writing, reading and listening, grammar and vocabulary development, oral presentation skills, research skills and web literacy. There will be an emphasis on the development of critical literacy and critical thinking throughout the course. By engaging in such activities, students will gain increased understanding in using English to communicate in academic contexts at Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

Griffith English Language Institute (GELI)
For more than 30 years, Griffith English Language Institute, Griffith University’s official English language provider, has been delivering English language programs to international students. They provide English language courses to over 1000 students a year, from more than 40 different countries. Students residing at the Gold Coast join face-to-face classes whilst students located internationally attend classes virtually. You can start at Griffith English Language Institute with any English proficiency level and study for the period suited to your own purposes. You will be placed in a class between Level 1 and Level 6 based on our placement test taken before you commence your course, or your proficiency test result if you have one.If you are placed in Level 1, 2, 3 or 4, you will develop language skills for everyday communication: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, and pronunciation. At Levels 5 and 6, you will further improve your communication skills and also practise skills that will be useful for work or further study.
