ABOUT GCDRU
The GCDRU is the regional body for the conduct of rugby union within the Gold Coast Region encompassing; Yatala to the North, Casuarina to the South and the Scenic Rim to the West. Whilst the Gold Coast is recognised as one of the best sports and recreation locations within Australia, the challenge is to ensure not only the viability of Rugby Union as a singular sport within the Region, but the development of participation, infrastructure and sustainable financial growth. GCDRU has long recognised the importance of planning and accountability in its approach to sustaining and developing the game of rugby across the Gold Coast Region. The Gold Coast demographics and societal expectations are ever changing. The needs of, and opportunities for our game must reflect these evolving conditions. It is against this background that the GCDRU, as the governing body for rugby as part of Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) and Rugby Australia (RA), consulted with its various stakeholders and relevant outside agencies, researched trends and considered the learnings from other strategic assessments in its pursuit for improvement.
